Going straight to the point, let me be honest with you; getting on this journey requires so much patience, love, and consistency.

If you're coming here from Instagram, I'm sure you've read my post on my hair growth journey. As I said, it's been a tiring but funny ride, but not just. Watching my hard work pay off and seeing so much growth and watching my hair flourish is so satisfying, fulfilling, and therapeutic. Taking care of my hair has taught me so much about consistency and passion. It made me realize something about myself (which I'm sure everyone can relate with), it is easier for me to stay consistent at whatever I'm passionate about.

Dealing with your hair

After almost three years of research and having positive results on my hair, I decided to help you out. Yes, you. You took a bold step to subscribe to my blog because you want to learn how to take care of your hair, love on it and watch it grow, and I'm so proud of you for deciding to get on this journey with me. You have to be patient with your hair, love your hair (as I said, our hair has its own love language😅), and be consistent with your hair routine (most important). Hair journey is not something you start with today, stop by tomorrow and come back to continue in six months. It is like going on a weight loss journey. You want to make sure taking care of your hair becomes a daily habit, as there are daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, and yearly routines to follow.

First things first

Before we get on this ride, there are some prerequisites I should let you know about. Following the routines without these will not produce an effective outcome. Here are some hacks to having and maintaining healthy, attractive, and sumptuous hair:

  1. Keep your hair moisturized. Letting your hair dry out exposes you to a lot of frizzy ends that are prone to breakage. Also, stay hydrated. Drink water dears, and mind your business.🌚

  2. Embrace your hair. 4c, 4b, 3d, whatever your hair type is, embrace it with your full chest! Stop comparing your hair to others. You have beautiful hair girl! As pretty as you! Walk with your shoulders and fro high! Get comfortable in your hair

  3. Stop sleeping on your hair. Get a satin bonnet or better still, a satin pillow cover, just in case your bonnet rolls off at night! (If you can read this, there is a bonnet already being shipped to your location! I'm excited to see you rock it! Don't forget to take a picture and tag me!😉)

  4. Massage your scalp sis! Massaging your scalp increases blood flow which promotes hair growth. This should be part of your daily routine, no matter how busy you get. You can start with one minute a day. Put a timer and an alarm if you have to.

  5. Length retention is the key to long hair. Your hair never stopped growing, you are just not retaining the length. Could be as a result of the products you use or the way you handle your hair.

  6. Stop manipulating your hair every day. Learn to give your hair breathing space to just breathe and grow peacefully 😂. Manipulating your hair all the time puts unnecessary tension on your roots and scalps which disturbs hair growth.

  7. Health over length. On this journey, let it be the health of your hair over the growth (at least for a start). Focus on having healthy hair, and the length will come naturally. Your hair won't be as long as you want if it's unhealthy, and even if it is, it wouldn't be as attractive as your want. So for now, let it be health over length.

  8. Eat healthily. Proteins boost hair growth too. Incorporate them into your diet. Proteins are food like fish, milk, meat, soya, omega 3 oil, seafood, skim or low-fat milk, skim or low-fat yogurt, fat-free or low-fat cheese.

Your hair is your baby. The first baby you have. Treat it with love and care and watch it flourish!
