"Small habits don't add up. They compound". ~James Clear

On the 18th of January, I put up an Instagram post announcing the beginning of my content creation journey. If you have seen the post, then you won't be hearing this for the first time, CONTENT CREATION AIN'T EASY!

I have been on a lot of planning, scheduling, and executing. Some plans didn't go through the way I wanted, but not just. Truth is, I'm still recovering from 2020. It left a deep wound that healing anytime soon is practically impossible. I'm teaching myself to be patient with the process and give myself the time and space I'll need to heal.

I just concluded a book, Atomic Habits, and that gave me more than just the motivation to keep pushing. Asides from opening my eye to learning about systems and setting up the right systems to achieve my goals, I learned a different aspect of discipline, (or maybe not a different aspect, but something new about discipline). Life is going to be tough anyway. Life is always tough, and regardless of the number of times we say 'God forbid' to a thing, bad things are still bound to happen. That's where the discipline comes in. Discipline is showing up on my bad days, showing up even when you don't feel like it. Motivation doesn't come every day, neither does inspiration, so I'll share a hack I learned from the book and the little period I was off the radar from blogging.

Motivation doesn't come every day. It's important to set up systems, build habits that make me show up every day. This means, not just focusing on the end goal, but redefining my identity. Using myself as an example; I should not just be focused on owning a big blog. I should be focused on being the kind of person that writes every day. That not only builds the consistency I need to be a successful blogger, but it opens me up to the mistakes I'll make, understanding the process, building my experiences, and getting better at doing what I do. For inspiration, my little hack is to write down the article, content, or blog post as the thought comes and as inspiration flows, so even if I procrastinate posting the content, I have the thoughts penned down already, so I don't get stranded trying to produce another content.

I did learn so much from the book. I'm making a commitment to putting into practice whatever I learned. I won't put myself through the pressure of getting it all right at once, but I promise to put in baby steps. Just like James Clear, author of atomic habits said, "Small habits don't add up, they compound". It takes just one each time; just one step, one blog post, one paragraph, one Instagram post, one email subscriber, one day at a time.

The process would be a long one. But I'm willing to stay committed regardless.
